Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Jabri, Board Member of Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) and member of the Oman Athletes Committee, along with Buthaina bint Eid Al-Yaqubi, member of the Oman Athletes Committee, took part in the 6th Athletes’ Forum organized by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity Program. The event was hosted in the Kazakh capital, Astana, on September 2–3.
The forum brought together more than 120 delegates representing 42 National Olympic Committees from across Asia, in addition to representatives of the International Olympic Committee and a number of international sports organizations. It served as a prominent platform for sharing experiences and ideas, and for discussing key issues concerning athletes.
This year’s forum was held under the theme “Empowering Voices, Uniting Asia,” underscoring the OCA’s commitment to placing athletes at the heart of the Olympic movement in the continent. The sessions focused on several pivotal topics, including: empowering athletes’ commissions in Asian countries, safeguarding athletes both during and beyond competitions, anti-doping measures, preventing competition manipulation, and promoting a culture of safe sport.
The forum also announced an increase in the annual grant for the Athletes’ Special Projects Fund from USD 3,000 to USD 5,000, in support of initiatives aimed at enhancing the status of athletes in Asia.
Alongside the discussions, the forum provided athletes with opportunities to engage in interactive activities, including the “Fun Run” organized by the OCA in cooperation with the Kazakhstan Olympic Committee, as part of the promotional campaign for the 20th Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan, in 2026.
