Doha: On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs, participated in the proceedings of the Extraordinary Session of the GCC Supreme Council regarding the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar.
The summit was attended by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the GCC leaders, and was held in the Qatari capital, Doha today. It preceded the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit, which is scheduled to take place later on Monday.
The Extraordinary Session examined the latest developments, namely the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar and its serious repercussions on regional security and stability. The summit reaffirmed the unified GCC position in support of Qatar's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It emphasised the necessity of enhancing solidarity and joint action to safeguard the security and supreme interests of the GCC member states and to contribute to the protection of regional and international peace and security.
The Extraordinary Session discussed political, economic, and security developments in the region, along with regional and international issues of common interest.
The Extraordinary Session was chaired by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar. Representing the Omani side was Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister.
