How is Ericsson advancing 5G and differentiated connectivity across EMEA, and what specific opportunities do you see for Oman?

Across EMEA, Ericsson works with communication service providers to strengthen 5G capabilities and introduce differentiated connectivity solutions through long-term collaboration with communication service providers and enterprises. We are focused on evolving 5G Standalone capabilities, Fixed Wireless Access and advanced network functions that enable predictable performance and measurable business outcomes. These developments strengthen the foundation for intelligent, high-performing networks across the region.

In Oman, Ericsson’s collaboration with Omantel is a key example of this progress. Together, we have introduced 5G Fixed Wireless Access to deliver fiber-like speeds and expand broadband availability across the Sultanate. This partnership supports Oman’s national digital transformation goals by improving network reach, enhancing service quality, and enabling citizens and enterprises to benefit from fast, reliable connectivity that strengthens the country’s digital economy.

What role can 5G play in enabling enterprises in the Sultanate to become more competitive and digitally driven?

5G provides enterprises with the connectivity required to digitalize operations, automate processes, and enable real-time decision-making. Its capacity, speed, and reliability create opportunities for advanced use cases such as connected manufacturing, remote monitoring, and industrial IoT. These capabilities allow enterprises to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and deliver enhanced services.

Our partnership with Ooredoo Oman demonstrates how digital infrastructure modernization can drive enterprise readiness. Through the joint upgrade of Ooredoo’s charging and rating systems, Ericsson is supporting the creation of a unified, flexible platform that improves service delivery and customer engagement. This modernization prepares the operator and its enterprise customers to fully leverage 5G capabilities, enabling innovation, operational efficiency, and new value creation within Oman’s evolving digital ecosystem.

What initiatives is Ericsson leading in Oman to align connectivity with sustainability and talent development?

Ericsson is committed to advancing Oman Vision 2040 by driving initiatives that combine digital inclusion, sustainable innovation, and local talent development. Our strategy focuses on building national capabilities and fostering a skilled workforce to lead Oman’s digital transformation. Through the Gen-E Graduate Program equips young Omani graduates with skills in 5G, automation, and emerging connectivity technologies to prepare them for careers in the ICT sector.

In partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Finance, Ericsson has also launched the Digital Lab Program at the Centre of Excellence (CoE), a flagship initiative to nurture digital skills among youth. Earlier this year, Ericsson experts conducted an intensive Train-the-Trainer program, preparing 12 Omani instructors to deliver the curriculum. Later, the Ministry rolled out a 10-week summer camp, engaging over 160 students across five disciplines — Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Game Development, Creative Coding, and Electronics — marking a successful pilot phase and setting the foundation for nationwide deployment

In addition, the Imagine Live Oman, which was a week-long technology engagement event hosted early this year, brought together telecom partners and communication service providers to explore the future of connectivity and co-create digital transformation initiatives aligned with Oman Vision 2040. These efforts underscore Ericsson’s role as a trusted partner in Oman’s digital journey, advancing Oman’s talent ecosystem and digital future, promoting responsible growth, and enabling a sustainable, connected society.

What innovations or technologies will Ericsson be showcasing at GITEX this year, and how do you see them contributing to Oman’s digital transformation?

At GITEX Global 2025, Ericsson is showcasing programmable networks, differentiated connectivity, and artificial intelligence-driven automation. Visitors can experience demonstrations that highlight intent-based automation, industrial AI at scale, and mission-critical enterprise solutions. These showcase how networks deliver predictable performance and measurable outcomes for service providers and enterprises.

For Oman, these technologies represent the next step in advancing digital transformation. They highlight how intelligent, high-performing networks can support national priorities, drive operational efficiency, and enable new services across sectors. Ericsson remains committed to working with partners to help Oman realize its long-term vision for a connected and sustainable digital future. Visitors can find us in Hall 21, Booth H21-D10
