Muscat: The Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) has been ranked among the top 100 universities in the Arab world in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2026, conducted by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), the leading global provider of higher education analytics and insights.
MCBS secured the 98th position out of 300 ranked universities, chosen from a competitive pool of Arab institutions, and ranked second in Oman for academic reputation, following only Sultan Qaboos University. The achievement underscores MCBS’s growing impact in research, teaching, and global engagement, positioning it among the country’s most reputable institutions.
As the first private college in Oman to achieve a Five-Star rating from the QS Stars University Rating System, MCBS continues to set benchmarks in quality education, impactful research, and international engagement.
The QS Arab Region Comparative Performance Assessment evaluates institutions across indicators such as academic and employer reputation, research output, faculty credentials, and web visibility. Rather than ranking winners, the assessment provides data-driven benchmarking to support continuous improvement and regional development priorities.

The college continues to publish in top tier journals includung Scopus-indexed research papers, established the Innovation X Hub and the Estidama MCBD Sustainability Center aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and forged collaborations with Franklin University, Ohio in the United States and the University of Missouri–St. Louis. This achievement highlights the growing strength of Oman’s private higher education sector and its contribution to national development.
