His Excellency Basil bin Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth for Sports and Youth, stated in the Ministry’s address:“This competition aims to realize a comprehensive vision for club management based on best practices, governance, and strategic planning to enhance their role as incubators for youth across various activities. It seeks to instill values of citizenship and volunteerism, encourage income diversification, support promising athletes, and raise awareness of the vital role clubs play in society and youth development, in alignment with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.”
He added: “To keep pace with ongoing developments, the competition was updated this year to align with the Oman Sports Strategy 2040, approved last year. The prize value for winning clubs was increased. This year’s awards are divided into two categories: the first for the top five clubs with the highest scores in competitive activities, and the second for four clubs that achieved the highest scores in each of the strategic pillars, who received incentive awards.”
The ceremony also featured a visual presentation highlighting the journey of the Cup since its inception, the objectives it was founded upon, and the stages of development it has undergone over the years. It included a detailed explanation of the new evaluation system introduced this year, the scoring mechanisms, and the criteria used to distinguish between clubs.
The competition aims to encourage clubs to adopt quality standards, governance, and best practices in planning, organization, and management. It also promotes income diversification through cultural, sports, and youth investments, supports promising athletes by providing nurturing environments across all stages, expands the base of sports practitioners, and raises awareness of the importance of clubs in community engagement, youth care, and volunteerism. It further supports clubs in creating a cultural, sports, and youth-friendly environment that contributes positively to society.
