Telecommunications sector launches initiative in North Al Batinah

A’Suwaiq: The telecommunications sector in North Al Batinah Governorate opened a new outlet in the Wilayat of A’Suwaiq for the "Nafadh" initiative.

The project aims to "provide a working environment for freelancers in telecommunications and information technology," marking the first time the initiative has been launched outside Muscat Governorate. This move is part of a broader strategy to expand the initiative’s scope to include various governorates across the Sultanate of Oman.

The launch is part of the telecommunications sector's efforts to empower freelancers and provide an incubator environment that helps them develop their technical skills. By transforming these skills into digital products and services applicable to the market, the initiative enhances their role as active partners in the digital economy and contributes to creating flexible and sustainable employment opportunities.

The initiative relies on an intensive model for executing real-world projects in systems and applications development. It qualifies participants to work on digital transformation projects in line with the labor market needs of the telecommunications sector.

Targeting graduates of telecommunications and network engineering, the initiative offers multiple opportunities to join companies operating in the sector or to pursue freelancing and entrepreneurship. "Nafadh" focuses on building practical skills and enhancing professional readiness, thereby supporting the digital economy and improving the efficiency of the national workforce, consistent with Oman’s directions in developing the telecommunications sector.

Since its inception, the initiative has contributed to qualifying and empowering 94 national talents in the fields of programming and technical development. More than 36 participants have secured job opportunities in the labor market, while 6 graduates have been empowered to work as independent freelancers. Currently, 52 participants are enrolled in training to become independent business owners.
