Commerce Ministry mandates Omani Quality Mark to boost consumer safety and market standards

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has issued a formal directive mandating that all manufacturers, importers, and retail and distribution establishments obtain a licence to use the Omani Quality Mark on applicable products sold in the local market.

The announcement, made on January 4, 2026, underscores the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing product quality and consumer confidence through standardized certification. The directive is administered by the Directorate General of Standards and Metrology and applies to all entities dealing with products covered under the Omani Quality Mark scheme.

Companies seeking to obtain or renew their licence must submit applications via the Hazm Platform, in coordination with approved conformity assessment bodies. Regulatory enforcement of this requirement will commence at all entry points across Oman starting Sunday, March 1, 2026.

The Ministry has encouraged stakeholders to visit [www.tejarah.gov.om]for a list of mandatory products and further guidance.

This move is part of Oman’s broader strategy to align with international quality standards and promote consumer safety and market transparency.
