Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman is set to be affected by a cold air mass accompanied by increased wind activity, starting Thursday, January 22, 2026, according to Civil Aviation Authority.
Weather forecasts indicate a noticeable drop in temperatures across most governorates, with conditions expected to continue over the following days. The cold air mass will be accompanied by active to strong winds, which may vary in intensity from one area to another.
Data from some Omani weather stations, recorded at 10:00 a.m., showed wind gusts reaching 26 knots in Muscat and Fahud, 31 knots in Ibri, 21 knots in Haima and Jabal Harim, and 23 knots in Masirah.
CAA explained that the weather conditions are linked to the influence of a cold air mass and changes in atmospheric pressure systems affecting the region.
Authorities have warned of potential weather-related impacts, including reduced horizontal visibility, rough sea conditions along some coastal areas, and occasionally strong winds, urging the public to exercise caution, particularly motorists and sea-goers.
The National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre continues to monitor developments and advises the public to follow official weather updates and guidance.
