
Muscat: Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council, on Wednesday received Ahmed Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and his accompanying delegation, as part of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Shura Council emphasised the depth of the fraternal and historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain, and their ongoing development and growth across various fields.
He pointed to the mutual commitment to advancing these relations towards wider horizons.
For his part, the Speaker of the Bahraini Council of Representatives commended the comprehensive renaissance and accelerated development witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman across various sectors under the prosperous reign of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
He valued the constructive cooperation and joint efforts between the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council and their impact on unifying efforts and common stances between them towards various issues and topics raised in regional and international parliamentary forums.
He lauded the experience of the Omani Shura, its foundation upon a wise approach, and affirmed its success in progressively developing its powers and legislative roles, reflecting positively on the Shura Council’s performance in various fields both domestically and internationally.
After that, the two sides held an official session of talks, during which they emphasised the importance of continuing joint cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Bahrain through their legislative councils across various economic, investment, and legislative fields, and enhancing it at all levels.
Both sides also stressed the importance of benefiting from the legislative expertise and experiences that characterise the two councils through visits and the exchange of expertise, contributing to the development of the legislative work of the two countries.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Bahraini official and his accompanying delegation took a tour of the Council of Oman building.
During the tour, they observed the features of its architectural design, which reflects the embodiment of authentic Omani architectural arts and carries cultural and historical significance expressing the national identity of the Sultanate of Oman.
The tour included a visit to the deliberation hall, where the delegation learned about the mechanisms for managing sessions, the modern technologies used in organising the Council’s work, and the electronic voting system adopted for discussing items on the session agendas.
The guests also visited the Council of Oman Library, where they reviewed the knowledge sources and legislative documents it contains, which contribute to supporting legislative and research work and enhancing decision-making. -ONA
