Social Development Ministry detects 67 cases of unlicensed fundraising activities in 2025

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development said that 67 cases of unlicensed fundraising worth OMR30,000 were detected in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman in 2025. Muscat Governorate had the largest number of cases of unlicensed fundraising (about 20 cases), while South A’Sharqiyah Governorate did not register any cases of unauthorized fundraising.

The Ministry of Social Development affirmed it would continue to shoulder its responsibility of regulating the process of fundraising from members of the public in accordance with a related bylaw issued by Ministerial Resolution No. (336/2024). The bylaw sets clear-cut legal guidelines that ensure the legitimacy of fund donation campaigns. The overall objective is to safeguard public funds against exploitation.
