Drones target Kuwait International Airport

Kuwait City: The General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that Kuwait International Airport was targeted on Thursday by several drones, resulting in material damage but no human casualties.

According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, the official spokesman for the authority, said the situation was handled in accordance with the emergency plan that has been in place since the beginning of the current crisis, in full coordination with relevant authorities in the country.

Al-Rajhi stressed the authority’s continued commitment to taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety and security of civil aviation in Kuwait.

Earlier, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said that six overhead power transmission lines in several locations across Kuwait were taken out of service after debris fell following the interception of a number of drones.

The incident caused a temporary disturbance in the national power grid and led to partial and limited power outages in several areas before electricity was fully restored to the affected locations.
