Nama Water Services advances treated water reuse to support water security, green economy

Muscat: Nama Water Services is strengthening its national approach toward treated water resource management by maximizing the economic value of every cubic meter of treated water (Manhal Nama), positioning it as a practical and reliable solution to meet diverse usage needs. This reflects a strategic shift from resource management to value-driven water management, contributing to operational efficiency and environmental sustainability, in line with Oman Vision 2040.

The company emphasized that sustainability begins with smart resource management and value optimization, which is reflected in its efforts to enable the optimal use of treated water across various sectors.

Eng. Issam bin Munir Al Ismaili, Chief Officer of Digital and Commercial Services at Nama Water Services, said:“Manhal Nama has evolved from an alternative source into an integral part of the water economy, enabling sectors to manage water demand more efficiently and cost-effectively”.

“We do not offer treated water merely as a service, but as a solution that delivers greater value to customers in terms of efficiency, sustainability, and ease of use, making it a smart choice for a wide range of applications,” he added.

Al Ismaili explained that the company relies on an integrated treatment system using advanced technologies that enhance water quality and operational characteristics. The system is enabling its safe reuse across multiple applications, including agriculture, industry, and irrigation of green spaces, in compliance with national and international standards.

These processes also contribute to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable water use, supporting environmental protection and improving quality of life.

According to company data at the end of 2025, the number of beneficiaries of Manhal Nama increased by 36 per cent compared to 2024, reflecting growing demand and rising confidence in treated water as a practical and sustainable option.

He noted that this growth indicates a shift in user behavior toward adopting more efficient and sustainable water solutions, driven by reliability and service continuity.

In this context, Nama Water Services continues to develop flexible operational models that enable customers to benefit from treated water (Manhal Nama) based on their specific needs, aligning water quality with usage requirements to enhance efficiency and maximize economic value.

The company is also working to empower users to adopt more efficient and sustainable water sources, with Manhal Nama representing a dependable alternative for various applications.

As part of its strategic expansion, Nama Water Services is expanding treatment networks and infrastructure while adopting automated monitoring systems to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.

Among key projects is the treated water distribution project in Al Shakhakhit area in Wilayat Barka, which currently serves around 60 farms, with more than 100 connection requests received, reflecting increasing demand for this resource in the agricultural sector.

In addition, the company is set to commission a new strategic treated water pipeline in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate in the coming months, connecting Wilayats of Nizwa and Manah over a distance exceeding 12 kilometres, improving accessibility to a reliable and sustainable water source.

Al Ismaili emphasized that the use of treated water offers multiple benefits, including reducing reliance on freshwater resources, preserving natural water reserves, lowering operational costs, and enhancing water allocation efficiency.

He concluded by encouraging various sectors to adopt Manhal Nama as a practical and reliable solution, noting that the company is continuously working to enhance accessibility and improve services to deliver greater value to customers.

These efforts reflect Nama Water Services’ commitment to building a more efficient and sustainable water system, where resources are transformed into value and managed in a way that supports development and long-term sustainability.
