Rabat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Morocco have discussed ways to enhance joint cooperation in social and family development fields, focusing on exchanging expertise to support family issues and promote social progress in both countries.

The discussions took place during a meeting between Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al-Najjar, Oman’s Minister of Social Development, and Naima Ibn Yahya, Morocco’s Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family.

The meeting, held during an official visit by the Omani delegation to the Kingdom of Morocco, aimed to explore successful experiences and expand bilateral cooperation.

Both sides reviewed key areas including social welfare systems, child and family protection, elderly care, and empowerment programs for people with disabilities, as well as mechanisms to advance women’s empowerment.

The Moroccan experience in developing social welfare institutions and strengthening partnerships with civil society organisations was also highlighted.

Discussions also covered the disability sector, focusing on improving access to services, assessment systems, and facilities provided to persons with disabilities.

On the sidelines of the visit, Al-Najjar met with Dr. Abdeljabbar Rachidi, Secretary of State in charge of Social Integration in Morocco, where they discussed legislative frameworks supporting the independence and inclusion of persons with disabilities, along with related health and social services.
