Muscat: Since its launch in January 2025, the national health insurance platform Dhamani has processed more than 11.2 million electronic transactions and over 3.3 million insurance claims, with payments made through the platform exceeding OMR59 million.
Dhamani is a comprehensive national platform designed to regulate relationships among all stakeholders within the health insurance ecosystem, ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services while reducing price disparities, enhancing procedural transparency, accelerating transaction processing, and improving the beneficiary experience.
The platform also contributes to building a unified medical record for insured individuals, thereby increasing the efficiency of medical and insurance decision-making.
The health insurance sector has recorded positive growth indicators, with total health insurance premiums reaching approximately OMR119.7 million against paid claims exceeding OMR95 million, clearly reflecting market expansion and the sector's strengthening role in financing healthcare services.
Data issued by the Financial Services Authority indicates that the number of insured individuals has reached 650,000, with over 32,000 health insurance policies issued. This reflects growing awareness of the importance of health insurance and an expanding base of beneficiaries of insurance services in the Sultanate of Oman.
The sector has witnessed notable growth in recent years, with cumulative premium growth reaching approximately 80% between 2021 and 2025. Health insurance now accounts for about 22% of the total insurance market, reinforcing its position as one of the most significant components of Oman's insurance sector.
It is worth noting that insurance coverage currently stands at approximately 13% of the total population, highlighting promising opportunities to expand the health insurance umbrella and enhance levels of insurance inclusion.
