Sayyid Badr, counterparts condemn opening of so-called Somaliland embassy

Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and a number of his counterparts in Arab and friendly nations today condemned in the strongest terms the unlawful and unacceptable step taken by the so-called Somaliland region to open an alleged embassy in in the occupied city of Jerusalem “Al-Quds.”

This move constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and relevant internationally legitimate resolutions, and represents a direct infringement upon the legal and historical status of occupied Al-Quds.

The ministers affirmed their complete rejection of any unilateral measures aimed at consolidating an illegal reality in occupied Jerusalem or granting legitimacy to any entities or arrangements that violate the rules of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

They reaffirmed that East Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al Sharqiya) is an occupied Palestinian territory since 1967, and that any steps aimed at changing its legal and historical status are considered null and void and bear no legal effect. The ministers stressed their full support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and their complete rejection of any unilateral measures that infringe upon the unity of Somali territories or detract from its sovereignty.
