Contract inked for Al Nuzha Street dual carriageway project

Muscat– Muscat Municipality today signed a contract for the implementation of Al Nuzha Street dual carriageway project in Al Mabila (South), the Wilayat of A’Seeb. This project is one of the strategic initiatives aimed at developing the road network and enhancing the efficiency of the infrastructure to keep pace with the rapid urban growth in Muscat Governorate.

The contract was signed by Eng. Ahmed Said Al Amri, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, alongside the contracting company executing the project.

The on-site construction works commence during the current month. The project entails the construction of a dual carriageway spanning 11 kilometers, equipped with additional lanes to accommodate growing traffic volumes. It also includes the development of 3.5 kilometers of service roads to serve the areas and facilities located along the corridor, thereby enhancing accessibility.

The project further comprises the construction of six major intersections fitted with state-of-the-art intelligent traffic signal systems. These are designed to regulate traffic movement, reduce waiting times, enhance travel fluidity, and elevate road safety standards.

In addition, the project features an integrated stormwater drainage system, including multi-cell box culverts and channels, along with lateral roadside drainage systems. This will reinforce the road’s resilience under various weather conditions and improve surface water management efficiency. A modern street lighting system using energy-efficient lamps will also be installed.
