
Muscat: A number of companies and social media influencers were summoned for violating regulations regarding advertising and promoting food products, Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC), said.
As part of its efforts to enforce regulations governing the advertising and promotion of food products, the Food Safety and Quality Center summoned several companies and social media influencers after detecting violations related to advertising and promoting food products and infant and toddler foods.
The most prominent violations included the following:
- Advertising or promoting products that are prohibited from being advertised or promoted according to standard specifications.
- Advertising or promoting food products without obtaining prior approval from the center.
- Using unapproved or misleading advertising, health, or nutritional claims or statements.
- Publishing advertising or promotional materials that contain information or claims that could mislead consumers or violate applicable technical requirements.
The Center affirms its continued commitment to monitoring and tracking advertisements and promotional materials, and to taking the necessary legal penalties against violators. This will enhance consumer protection, curb misleading advertising, and raise the level of compliance with the regulations and requirements governing food product advertising.
