Oman reaffirms commitment to UNICEF, global efforts to protect children

New York: The Sultanate of Oman has affirmed its commitment to sustaining cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and international partners, in support of the organization's endeavors to build a more just, sustainable, and equitable future for every child.

This came in a statement delivered by Ambassador Omar Said Al Kathiri, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, before the second regular session of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2026, convened at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Sultanate of Oman expressed its appreciation to the Republic of Estonia for its stewardship of the UNICEF Executive Board for 2026, and likewise conveyed its gratitude to the Executive Director of UNICEF. Oman also valued the dedication of the organization's personnel in safeguarding children's rights and advancing their well-being, particularly amid escalating humanitarian and developmental challenges.

The Sultanate of Oman further noted that this session carries particular significance, as it marks the final session in which it participates in its capacity as a member of the UNICEF Executive Board and as Vice-President of the Board representing the Asia-Pacific Group for 2026. In this regard, the Sultanate expressed its pride in the confidence bestowed upon it by Member States, as well as in the opportunities afforded by its membership to contribute to fostering consensus and constructive dialogue.
