
Muscat: The Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) held its third meeting for 2026 on Sunday, at the Bank’s headquarters in Muscat Governorate.
The Board adopted the Policy on the Classification and Licensing of Banks and Representative Offices of Foreign Banks in the Sultanate of Oman, aimed at further strengthening the regulatory framework of the banking sector and governing classification and licensing procedures in line with the applicable requirements and standards. It also adopted the Emergency Policy and Framework, including the related measures and procedures.
The Board approved the issuance of commemorative coins to mark Omani Women’s Day, human civilizations, and a number of prominent Omani figures.
The Board also approved the financial position of the Central Bank of Oman for the second quarter of 2026 and the budget of the College of Banking and Financial Studies for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The Board reviewed a report on the key matters discussed during its previous meetings and the actions taken thereon, in addition to a number of reports, minutes of meetings and other items on the agenda, and took the appropriate decisions thereon.
