Salalah: The Arab Youth Climate Action Forum 2025 kicked off on Saturday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
Organised by the Madad Development Foundation with the support of the Environment Authority, the forum will continue until September 30.
The opening ceremony of the forum was sponsored by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority.
The opening ceremony included a speech by the Environment Authority, which affirmed the Sultanate of Oman's commitment to climate action and youth engagement in formulating environmental solutions.
This was followed by a speech by the Madad Development Foundation, which reviewed the forum's vision and objectives, as well as the role of Arab youth in confronting climate challenges.
A representative from the United Nations Population Fund then delivered a speech, highlighting the Fund's role in empowering youth and promoting sustainable development in the region.
The opening ceremony also included a dialogue session titled "Youth as a Catalyst for Arab Climate Solutions in the World," with the participation of a number of experts and representatives of international organisations. The session focused on highlighting the importance of youth in devising solutions and enhancing joint climate efforts.
The forum's programme includes plenary sessions and interactive workshops on key climate issues, policy dialogues to formulate regional and global climate positions, and presentations of youth innovations and solutions to address climate challenges.
The forum will focus on sustainable transportation in the Arab world, the role of digital transformation and smart technologies in adapting to climate change, and decarbonising the industrial sector, in addition to issues of climate justice, biodiversity, and the rights of indigenous peoples.
The Arab Youth Climate Action Forum, which brings together approximately 200 young men and women from various Arab countries, is a high-impact, youth-led regional youth gathering that aims to promote comprehensive and effective climate action in the Arab region.
