Muscat: The Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Muscat held a reception on Monday evening at the Sheraton Hotel Muscat to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Bangladesh.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs and patron of the event, emphasised in his speech the depth of the relations between the two countries since their establishment and the development they have witnessed in various fields.
He noted the commitment to continuing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand investment and trade exchange. His Excellency also expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the Bangladeshi community to the economic and service sectors in the Sultanate of Oman.
For his part Rear Admiral Khondkar Misbah-ul Azim, Ambassador of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to the Sultanate of Oman, praised the bilateral relations and the care and welcome extended to the Bangladeshi community by Omani society.
The Bangladesh envoy said that over 700,000 strong peaceful Bangla community has been working hard for the development of the Sultanate of Oman. Both professionals and blue-collar workers have contributed towards the building of country's infrastructure, he added.
Sirajul Hoque, CIP, Chairman of the Bangladesh Social Club, said that Bangladeshi expats would continue their efforts for the growth of Oman's GDP and improving the standards of living of the people.
The ceremony included artistic and cultural segments that embodied the deep ties between the two friendly countries. The ceremony was attended by a number of ambassadors, heads of departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Their Excellencies the Ambassadors, members of the diplomatic and consular corps accredited to the Sultanate of Oman.
