High dust levels and poor air quality affect normal life in Oman
Muscat: The readings on the Environment Authority's air quality monitoring platform (Naqi) indicate that some northern parts of the Sultanate of Oman are affected by a wave of high dust levels and poor air quality.
The affected areas are Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, and South Al Sharqiyah governorates.
Environment indicators show a significant decrease in air quality due to the high concentration of fine particulate matter, which may cause health problems, especially for the most vulnerable groups.
It is recommended to- stay indoors as much as possible and keep doors and windows tightly closed.
People should wear protective masks when going out and air conditioners should be operated in indoor recirculation mode.
Avoid outdoor physical activities during the dust storm and be careful while driving and use headlights if visibility is poor.
Additionally, follow updates issued by the Environment Authority regarding air quality.
