Arab youth 3x3 basketball event  begins in Muscat from Tuesday

MUSCAT: The Arab Youth 3x3 Basketball Championship (boys and girls), hosted by the Oman Basketball Association (OBA), in cooperation with the Arab Basketball Federation, will officially begin at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 25, at Al Mouj Muscat. The two-day tournament will conclude on Wednesday, November 26.


All the participating teams have arrived in Muscat on Sunday for the tournament.

On Tuesday, the boys’ matches begin at 3:00 pm with Oman-A facing Kuwait and Lebanon taking on Qatar-A. Following the two games, Oman-B will take on Qatar-A, followed by Kuwait against Lebanon match.

The girls’ matches begin with Oman-A taking on Kuwait followed by match between Qatar-A and Oman-B. The evening action will witness Oman-B taking on Kuwait and Oman-A locking horns with Qatar-A.

The championship will be played on a single round-robin format. The top four teams advance to the semifinals, with the winners competing for the title.

Oman teams ready

The girls’ national team completed its preparations under the guidance of coach Wafa Zegdoud. The squad includes Shams Al Duha Al Khonji, Fatma Al Nuaimani, Nareen Al Maamari, Ruba Al Kalbani, Reema Al Mughiri, Zainab Al Busaidi, Malak Al Salmi, Sayyida Lamar Al Busaidi, Reem Al Shiraawi, and Aisha Al Yafie.

The boys’ national team is led by national coach Mohammed Al Owaisi, and comprises Mishal Qafqaf, Muhab Al Hmaisim, Mazin Al Owaisi, Ibrahim Al Balushi, Azd Al Bahlani, Azzan Al Ajmi, Adam Al Hinai, and Akram Al Rashdi.
