Royal grant embodies priority of family stability

Muscat: The Royal grant from His Majesty the Sultan allocating RO 100 million for a housing assistance program to cover 3,500 families during 2026 and 2027, embodies the support for family stability and the enhancement of the quality of life for families with low-income across the various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

This grant is an extension of a series of Royal directives that place the citizen at the forefront of priorities, affirming the wise leadership's keenness to provide suitable housing as a fundamental pillar of social stability.

Dr. Khalfan Said Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, said that this Royal grant embodies the continuous giving approach established by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and reflects the Royal care for entrenching family stability as one of the fundamental foundations of social development.

He added that the Royal directives since the dawn of the renewed renaissance have formed a clear roadmap, enabling the achievement of qualitative accomplishments in the social housing program. These accomplishments have included providing suitable housing for thousands of families, alongside developing legislative and service frameworks that serve eligible beneficiaries and enhance the quality of life within a cohesive and stable society.

He clarified that the ongoing journey of giving confirms that the Omani citizen is the pivotal and goal of development. This reflects the government's commitment to directing resources towards priorities that have a direct impact on the quality of life and ensuring the continuity of providing suitable housing as a pivotal element in enhancing social cohesion and achieving sustainable development.

The Social Housing Program achieved qualitative results as part of the ongoing efforts to elevate the quality of life for eligible families. More than 8,000 families have been enabled to achieve family stability, with a value exceeding RO 200 million. The accomplishments included 465 housing units at a cost of RO 23 million, in addition to 543 housing units implemented in partnership with the private sector. This enhances the integration between the public and private sectors in achieving sustainable social impact.

Furthermore, an amount of RO 26.4 was allocated as assistance for families residing in mountainous areas and those affected by climatic conditions, thereby reinforcing community protection and enhancing the ability to overcome exceptional circumstances. In 2025, RO 50 million was allocated as a Royal grant that provided housing for more than 1,700 families, in addition to allocating RO 4 million through Royal directives for both Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning worked on purchasing 278 housing units within future city projects and residential neighborhoods, at a value exceeding RO 11.8 million. This aims to provide suitable housing with modern specifications within communities that have complete services and accelerates the pace of providing ready housing for eligible beneficiaries.
