
Samail: The Omani Association for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation convened its 2026 conference on Saturday to address the most prominent challenges facing healthcare practitioners in emergency departments.
The conference was organised in cooperation with Samail Hospital.
The opening ceremony was sponsored by His Highness Sayyid Mohammed bin Thuwaini Al Said,, and attended by dignitaries, officials, and specialists from the Ministry of Health and the Oman Medical Association.
The event saw the participation of more than 90 medical and paramedical professionals, in addition to medical and nursing students.
Healthcare development in Oman highlighted
Dr. Zakia bint Rashid Al-Daghishiya, Director of Samail Hospital, underscored the rapid development of the health sector in Oman.
She noted that the enhancement of healthcare infrastructure and the implementation of major health projects have contributed to meeting increasing demands, in line with the national vision for an integrated and advanced health system.
Dr. Al-Daghishiya also affirmed Oman’s commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services and keeping pace with global medical advancements.
Dr. Mahmoud bin Nasser Al-Rahbi, President of the Omani Society for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee, stated that the conference provides a scientific platform for exchanging professional experiences in emergency medicine and resuscitation.
He explained that the event aims to promote evidence-based clinical practice, unify treatment protocols, enhance decision-making quality, and improve safety and efficiency in managing critical cases. The conference also emphasized the importance of teamwork and integration across healthcare disciplines.
Scientific Sessions
The conference featured three integrated scientific sessions:
1. Emergency medicine and resuscitation
Legal and ethical aspects of resuscitation or non-resuscitation, soft skills in emergency departments, lessons learned from real work experiences, latest updates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to the American Heart Association guidelines.
2. Children’s emergency and resuscitation
Newborn resuscitation, updates in diagnosis and treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis in children, managing seizures and epilepsy in emergency situations according to the latest protocols.
3. Emergency and resuscitation of surgical cases and injuries
Cardiac arrest resulting from injuries and rapid intervention mechanisms, latest developments in first aid and resuscitation before and during hospital arrival, ENT emergencies and dealing with life-threatening cases.
The conference concluded successfully, reinforcing emergency care practices and contributing to improved patient outcomes in critical situations.
