Fish landings in Oman rise to OMR481m by November 2025

Muscat: The total value of fish landed through artisanal, coastal, and commercial fishing methods in the Oman reached OMR481.004 million by the end of November 2025, marking a 4.9 percent increase compared to OMR458.402 million recorded during the same period in 2024.

According to preliminary statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information, the total quantity of fish landed reached 723,011 tonnes by the end of November 2025, compared with 691,276 tonnes during the same period in 2024, representing a 4.6 percent growth.

Artisanal fishing recorded 641,836 tonnes, an increase of 3.1 percent compared with 622,646 tonnes during the same period in 2024.

Among governorates, Al Wusta Governorate ranked first in terms of artisanal fish landings with 220,813 tonnes, followed by South Al Sharqiyah Governorate with 196,652 tonnes. The North Al Batinah Governorate and South Al Batinah Governorate together recorded 77,288 tonnes, while Dhofar Governorate registered 65,510 tonnes.

Meanwhile, Musandam Governorate recorded 47,059 tonnes, and Muscat Governorate reported 34,514 tonnes.

Commercial fishing saw significant growth of 20.4 percent, reaching 73,614 tonnes by the end of November 2025 compared with 61,144 tonnes in the same period of 2024. Coastal fishing also recorded a slight increase of 1 percent, totaling 7,561 tonnes compared with 7,486 tonnes in 2024.

In terms of fish species, small pelagic fish dominated artisanal landings with 326,792 tonnes, followed by large pelagic fish with 194,377 tonnes, and demersal fish with 93,162 tonnes.

Shark catches reached 6,752 tonnes, while crustaceans and mollusks totaled 10,612 tonnes, and other unclassified species amounted to 10,143 tonnes.
