Iran war: Drone attacks hit Kuwait, Saudi Arabia

Iranian attack drones have struck targets in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, officials in both countries said early Sunday.

In a post on X, the Saudi Defense Ministry said at least 15 drones had been intercepted and destroyed within the kingdom's airspace. It also said the drones had tried to attack the diplomatic quarter in the capital, Riyadh.

In Kuwait, the Defense Ministry said fuel tanks at the country's international airport had been targeted by Iranian attack drones early on Sunday.

"Kuwaiti Air Defenses are currently responding to hostile missile and drone threats," the ministry said on X. It added that "explosions that may be heard are the result of air defense systems intercepting hostile targets."

Kuwait said the drone attack had directly targeted "vital infrastructure."

The army later said it had intercepted at least three ballistic missiles that had entered Kuwait's airspace.

In a separate statement, Kuwait said civilian facilities had been damaged by fragments and debris from intercepted drones.

The continued drone strikes come despite Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday apologizing to Iran's neighbors for the attacks.

Pezeshkian later said that while Tehran remains committed to pursuing friendly relations with its neighbors in the region, he insisted Iran has a legitimate right to defend itself against the US-Israeli attacks.

He said that Iran's broad retaliation campaign was targeting Israel and US military bases, facilities and other installations.

Iran can fight 'intense war' for at least 6 months, Guards say

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed the country can wage war against the United States and Israel for at least six months.

In a statement on the official Fars news agency, a spokesman for the Revolutionary Guards said Iran's armed forces "are capable of continuing at least a 6-month intense war at the current pace of operations."

The statement also said the Guards had targeted over 200 locations across the Middle East with ties to US or Israeli bases and facilities.

The White House said last week that it expects the joint US-Israeli campaign to fulfill its objectives in four to six weeks.
