Weather Alert: Heavy thunderstorms and flash flood likely across Oman tomorrow

Muscat: Authorities have issued warnings of continued heavy thunderstorms affecting multiple governorates of the Sultanate of Oman on Wednesday morning, with the potential for hail and strong downdraft winds due to intense cloud activity.

The impact is expected to begin gradually in the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, and Al Dakhiliyah, and later extend in the afternoon to Muscat, South Al Batinah, North Al Sharqiyah, South Al Sharqiyah, and Al Wusta.

Impact Level: Moderate to high.

Key Alerts:

Heavy thundershowers may cause flash floods in wadis, often accompanied by hail.

Strong downdraft winds with speeds ranging 20–50 knots (37–92 km/h).

Reduced horizontal visibility during thunderstorms.

Isolated rain and occasional thunderstorms expected in Dhofar Governorate – impact level: low.

The Civil Aviation Authority has advised the public to: 
Take all necessary precautions during thundershowers.
Avoid crossing wadis or low-lying areas prone to flooding.
Refrain from sailing during the alert period.

The warnings have been issued in coordination with the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center and the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure public safety.
