
Muscat : The Royal visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) today, and the inauguration of the Integrated Operations Center (IOC) of Bait Al Haitham, mark the beginning of a new and pivotal phase in the company's journey.
This inauguration reflects the Sultanate of Oman's ongoing focus on digital transformation, operational integration, and the adoption of advanced technologies in the energy sector, in line with Oman Vision 2040 and embodying the national ambition to embrace the standards of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Bait Al Haitham, a world-class facility, represents a significant milestone in PDO's corporate transformation journey, unifying the remote monitoring and management of all the company's oil, gas, energy, and export terminal assets within a single, integrated operational environment.
This advanced center enables integrated decision-making, enhances operational efficiency and reliability, supports remote operations, and strengthens operational safety through real-time coordination and collaboration across all of Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) operational assets.
The center remotely manages a vast operational network encompassing the monitoring and control of 227 producing oil fields, 39 producing gas fields, 29 main production facilities, 15 power generation plants with a total generating capacity of 1,400 megawatts, and more than 13,000 active wells, all connected via an integrated network of pipelines and transportation systems.
This center contributes to PDO’s long-term ambition of enhancing operational resilience, improving resource management, and solidifying the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a leading energy producer.
The project also focuses on developing competencies, improving operational processes, and empowering the national workforce. It currently employs 279 people, achieving a 95 percent Omanization rate.

He added that the official opening of the "Bait Al-Haitham" project embodies the continued royal support for the energy sector and underscores the fundamental pillars of innovation, operational excellence, and digital transformation in the Sultanate of Oman's journey towards sustainable development and a more resilient and competitive economy.
Al-Hadhramiq noted that this royal visit is a source of great pride and inspiration for all company employees, especially the Omani talent who continue to lead the company's journey and shape its future. The visit also reflects His Majesty's unwavering confidence in the company as a leading national institution in the energy sector, playing a pivotal role in supporting the Sultanate of Oman's economic growth, enhancing energy security, and establishing the foundations for long-term resilience and sustainability.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) achieved its highest oil production rate since 2002 in 2025. The company currently has a 92.7 percent Omanization rate and launched the "Ruwwad" program, which focuses on developing the leadership skills of the next generation of company leaders in collaboration with London Business School.
In the area of occupational and operational safety, the company has completed 10 years without any lost-time injuries in exploration operations. Last year, the company recorded a 15 percent decrease in lost-time injuries compared to 2024, a 40 percent decrease in vehicle accidents, and an 85 percent decrease in Level 1 and Level 2 operational accidents compared to 2020.
Regarding new technologies, the company is piloting 30 major technology initiatives to explore new growth areas and address pressing technical challenges, such as associated water management, energy management, artificial lift, enhanced oil recovery, and production measurement. In addition, it is implementing 22 new technologies to provide solutions in the areas of energy and water management, artificial lift, and well construction.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) retained approximately OMR 1 billion of its total supply chain expenditure within the Sultanate of Oman, while allocating OMR 350 million to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local community companies. PDO also directed OMR 273 million towards products manufactured in Oman and, through its Local Content Program, created 2,552 job opportunities for Omanis.
In 2025, PDO completed approximately 25 corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects valued at nearly OMR 3.5 million and committed to implementing 45 new projects. The company also renewed its scholarship program with OMR 2 million to support 150 students from its concession area. Additionally, its educational programs, "Masar," "Ma'rifa," and "Ta'ziz," attracted over 300 students.
Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has also achieved an exceptional milestone by obtaining the ISO 20121 certification for Sustainable Event Management, making it the first entity in the Sultanate of Oman and the first oil and gas company in the Middle East to receive this global accreditation. This reflects its firm commitment to sustainability and environmental leadership, and reinforces its efforts in organizing low-carbon events in accordance with best global practices.
