Oman participates in inaugural meeting of Council of Champions to End Violence Against Children

Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman participated today in the first official meeting of the members of the Council of Champions to End Violence Against Children, held on the sidelines of the Seventy-Ninth Session of the World Health Assembly in Geneva. The delegation was led by Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health and member of the Leadership Council.

This meeting is of exceptional significance, serving as the inaugural gathering of the Council’s members, which included a select group of ministers, senior officials, and influential international figures. The high-level dialogue brought together decision-makers to address health and developmental issues deemed urgent humanitarian priorities.

The Council of Champions to End Violence Against Children focuses its efforts on two primary humanitarian concerns, namely advancing children’s health and well-being, and combating violence against children. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging visions and approaches designed to accelerate international action on these two vital fronts, while fostering solidarity among participating states in this shared responsibility.

Oman’s participation in this meeting reflects its steadfast approach to supporting international initiatives with humanitarian and health dimensions, as well as its active engagement in United Nations platforms addressing childhood and sustainable development issues—an engagement rooted not only in diplomatic commitment but also in ethical and humanitarian responsibility.

This participation further strengthens the Sultanate of Oman’s growing presence in international health forums and its active contribution to shaping the pathways of global health action.
