Three oil tankers targeted in successive attacks off Omani coast

Muscat: The Maritime Security Centre has reported that three oil tankers were targeted in separate attacks off the Omani coast, with one crew member confirmed killed and three others still missing, as authorities continue to monitor the situation and coordinate response efforts.

The first incident involved the Liberia-flagged STOLT MAGNESIUM, which sustained an explosion and fire in its engine room approximately 40 nautical miles off the coast of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, outside Omani territorial waters. The 23-member crew was safely evacuated and all are reported in good health, the centre said.

In a second attack, the Liberia-flagged MOMBASA B was struck approximately 8.5 nautical miles from the coast of Musandam Governorate, resulting in engine failure. Its 21-member crew was evacuated, with six sustaining injuries of varying severity. A Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) vessel is monitoring the situation.

A third attack targeted the Liberia-flagged AL BAHYAH, owned by a UAE-based company, approximately 9.6 nautical miles off the Musandam coast. While 18 crew members were evacuated, three remain missing. A Royal Navy of Oman vessel is tracking developments in this incident.

The Maritime Security Centre confirmed it continues to monitor all three incidents and is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of maritime crews and respond to developments.
