Amerat–Bausher mountain road to close for two days

MUSCAT: Muscat Municipality, in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), has announced the temporary closure of the Amerat–Bausher Mountain Road for traffic travelling from the Wilayat of Amerat towards the Wilayat of Bausher.

The complete closure will begin on the evening of Thursday, July 23, and remain in effect until the evening of Saturday, July 25.
According to the municipality, the closure is necessary to carry out maintenance works, including the removal of loose and fallen rocks from the roadside protective barriers to enhance the safety of the route.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative roads during the closure and follow the directional signs installed in the area.

Many regular users of the road welcomed the maintenance work, saying safety should take precedence over the temporary inconvenience.

"I use the Amerat–Bausher road every day to commute to work. While the closure may add a few extra minutes to my journey, removing loose rocks is essential to prevent accidents," said Sadiq, a resident of Al Amerat.

Another commuter said she appreciated the municipality's proactive approach. "It's better to have a planned closure for maintenance than risk a serious incident caused by falling rocks. I am happy this is happening on the weekends," he said.

The municipality urged road users to plan their journeys in advance and cooperate with traffic authorities to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety while the maintenance works are underway.
