Al Buraimi: The value of real estate trading in Al Buraimi Governorate during the first half of 2026 reached approximately OMR16.77 million compared to OMR18.46 million during the same period in 2025, marking a decline of about 9%, according to data issued by the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate.
The data showed that the traded value of sale contracts up to the end of June this year amounted to OMR6,527,444, compared to OMR8,914,667 during the same period last year. The number of sale contracts decreased by 26%.
The traded value of mortgage contracts recorded an increase of 11.7%, reaching OMR10,213,211 by the end of the first half of this year, compared to OMR9,141,678 during the same period in 2025.
The traded value of swap contracts rose by 41.7% to OMR32,400 by the end of June 2026, compared to OMR22,860 during the same period last year.
The Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate continues its efforts in the investment sector by enhancing the utilisation of government land and supporting projects related to food security, in partnership with the Directorate General of Agriculture and Water Resources in the governorate. The number of investment sites offered during the first half of this year reached approximately 44 sites.
In the real estate development sector, Al Buraimi Governorate is witnessing the implementation of Al Salam Neighbourhood project, which is one of the integrated residential communities under the "Surooh" initiative, as part of the broader direction to provide comprehensive housing options that meet the needs of families and contribute to enhancing quality of life in the governorate.
The project comprises 580 housing units, with the completion rate for the first phase reaching 31%, underscoring the progress of construction work on the project. It falls within the integrated residential community system aimed at creating urban developments where housing is complemented by facilities, services and public spaces.
Sulaiman Ali Al Qarni, Director General of Housing and Urban Planning in Al Buraimi Governorate, stated that housing assistance provided to eligible families varies between home construction or purchase. He noted that by the end of June this year, the review and approval of 120 housing assistance applications across the governorate had been completed, while procedures for financial commitment are currently being finalised for the coming period.
He affirmed that the Directorate is working to increase response rates to beneficiaries' requests and improve the quality of services provided by activating a number of programmes and initiatives that contribute to diversifying the options available to beneficiaries, foremost among which are varied housing choices for eligible individuals.
