Salalah: Dhofar Municipality is organizing a two-day symposium on the management and control of disease vectors, notably mosquitoes.
The symposium, which began today in the Wilayat of Salalah, seeks to explore the latest scientific and practical methods in the field of vector control. It discusses successful local and regional experiences with a view to enhancing the role of municipalities and relevant authorities in this field.
The symposium also highlights the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and modern technologies in vector control, in addition to consolidating the concept of integrated vector management (IVM).
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Said bin Hareb Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs.
Experts, specialists and academics from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad will elaborate on the symposium's 5 main themes, which are: Biological solutions and modern innovations in combating disease vectors; Integrated management of small biting insects; International experiences in integrated vector management; Common vector-borne diseases; and Partnerships in combating disease vectors.
The opening of the symposium included a visual presentation about the efforts of Dhofar Municipality in combating mosquitoes.
