Restoration of Al Raml Quarter begins in Ibri

Ibri: A project for the restoration of Al Raml Quarter in the Wilayat of Ibri began on Wednesday. 

The two-year project aims to develop the tourism and service facilities of the heritage area to enhance its role in supporting tourism and economy in Al Dhahirah Governorate.

Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Balushi, CEO of Operations at A’Dhahirah International Development and Investment Company, said that the first phase of the project targets the restoration of about 30 percent of the site’s total area. This phase begins with the maintenance of the museum, the internal passages and 30 shops.

Al Balushi added that the first phase also includes the construction of a traditional caféteria and a restaurant, two tourist lodgings and panoramic seating areas overlooking the site, in addition to the maintenance of the mosque (along with the addition of a prayer area for women).

The project also seeks to provide business opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs and the local community, said Al Balushi.

He affirmed that the project combines the preservation of heritage sites and their use in promoting tourism and economic development in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
