Winners of "Engineer it with AI" competition announced

Muscat: The winners of the second edition of the "Engineer it with AI" competition were announced today. The competition is one of the initiatives of the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Digital Technologies, organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.

Twenty five teams took part in the competitions, comprising 100 participants from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The "OHI AI Labs" team secured first place for their project "Ma AI," while the "Faheem" team took second place for the "Rafeeq" project, and the "Nawat" team achieved third place for the "Sadeem Robotics" project.

Additionally, six encouragement awards were granted in recognition of outstanding projects and teams across a number of fields. The "Novera AI" team received the Excellence in Innovation award, the "Itqan" team won the Outstanding Collaboration and Teamwork award, and the "Sharyk" team was granted the Best Presentation and Communication award. The "Mawrid" team obtained the Most Scalable Product award, the "Sandeed" team earned the Outstanding Social Impact award, while "The Oqtmizers" team received the Technical Excellence award.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Khamis Saif Al Jabri, Minister of Economy.

The competition aims to develop national capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence, encourage youth and innovators to develop applicable technical solutions to address a number of real-world challenges across various sectors, and foster a culture of innovation and teamwork. It also seeks to support the utilization of artificial intelligence technologies in developing digital services and products.

The closing ceremony commenced with the opening of the accompanying exhibition, during which the qualifying teams showcased their projects and technical solutions. They provided explanations regarding the challenges their projects address, their working mechanisms, the expected value, and the potential for their development and application in a number of sectors.

The ceremony featured a keynote session titled "The Future of the Digital Economy in the Era of Smart Agents." The session discussed the impact of smart agents on business models and digital services, the economic and investment opportunities they present, and the requirements for preparing institutions to benefit from them. It also highlighted the importance of developing national capabilities and building a digital and legislative environment supportive of responsible innovation.

The ceremony also included honoring the institutions and individuals who made the greatest contributions to supporting the "Maeen AI" platform. This recognition spanned four main categories, which included the Data and Linguistic Empowerment Partner, the Development and Quality Partner, and the Pioneer in Empowerment and Institutional Awareness, in addition to honoring the ten most active and interactive users on the platform.
