Oman’s producer price index rises by 32.7%

Muscat: Oman’s Producer Price Index (PPI) increased by 32.7 percent during the second quarter of 2026, compared to the second quarter of 2025.

Data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that this increase was attributed to a 31 percent rise in mining and quarrying prices, driven by a 31.9 percent increase in crude oil and natural gas prices. Prices for stone and sand products also rose by 0.5 percent, while prices for mineral ores fell by 14.3 percent.

Prices in the manufacturing sector rose by 40.3 percent, driven by a 55.3 percent increase in prices for other transportable goods, with the highest increases among refined petroleum products (88.2 percent) and chemical products (21.4 percent).

Prices for the metal products, machinery and equipment group rose by 31.7 percent, with prices for products made of iron, steel or aluminium recording the highest increase within the group at 48.9 percent, followed by prices for power transformers, electrical distribution equipment and cables at 39.8 percent.

Prices for food, beverages and textiles also rose by 2.8 percent, with footwear prices recording the highest increase within the group at 6.7 percent, followed by woven fabrics at 2.8 percent.

Water prices rose by 4.4 percent, while electricity prices increased by 13 percent during the second quarter of 2026 compared to the second quarter of 2025.
