Oman participates in ASBU Executive Council meeting in Tunisia

Tunis: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information, participated in the 115th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), held in the Republic of Tunisia.

The Sultanate of Oman's delegation was headed by Mohammed Said Al Balushi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information.

The meeting discussed a number of media topics pertaining to radio, television, engineering and new media programming, alongside matters related to the Arab Radio and Television Festival.

The meeting also addressed media support for the Palestinian cause, the Union's activities in the field of new media, radio, television and news programming exchanges, as well as preparations for organising the Arab Radio and Television Festival, to be held under the theme "The Pulse of the Image and the Echo of the Future" during 20 to 24 September.

The meeting reviewed the report of the Arab Centre for Radio and Television Training in Damascus, which commended the Sultanate of Oman's contribution to the delivery of a number of in-person training courses in Muscat, in addition to the participation of Omani personnel in the training programmes conducted by the Centre and the training programmes of the Union's Academy for Media Training in Tunis.

The meeting further examined the importance of harnessing artificial intelligence technologies in media work and keeping pace with the rapid developments in this field, alongside the organisation of specialised training courses in artificial intelligence, thereby contributing to the development of media personnel's skills and the enhancement of their capacities to engage with modern technologies and employ them across various domains of media work.

The Sultanate of Oman's participation in the meetings of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union comes within the framework of strengthening Arab media cooperation and coordination, as well as exchanging expertise and experiences across different fields of media work.
