Salalah — The awareness workshop titled "Shared Government Services and E-Integration," organized by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, began today in Salalah.
The two-day workshop features the participation of approximately 150 employees from government entities.
The opening of the event was held under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Mohsin Al Ghassani, Chairman of Dhofar Municipality.
Eng. Sami Suhail Bait Fadhil, Director General of Infrastructure and Digital Platforms at the Ministry, stated that the workshop seeks to enhance awareness of shared government services and their role in achieving e-integration among government bodies, as well as introduce the policies and controls governing the utilization of these services.
He explained that the "E-Systems Integration Policy Document for State Administrative Units" represents a framework of rules and controls regulating the interconnection of government systems and the electronic exchange of data and information, thereby contributing to facilitating access to services and accelerating transaction processing, while ensuring the protection of data and information.
He pointed out that the "National Government Integration Platform" currently links 81 government entities, with the daily volume of data exchanged via the platform exceeding 1.5 million, while total data exchanged across the platform during 2025 exceeded 600 million, reflecting the extent of reliance on e-integration in delivering government services.
The workshop covers a number of themes, including defining the role of Oman Government Network, the National Center for Information Safety and Electronic Certification, and the National Government Platform for E-Integration, alongside mechanisms for benefiting from their services and clarifying aspects of integration among them to deliver interconnected government services, thereby supporting performance efficiency and accelerating digital transformation.
The workshop aims to enhance awareness of shared government services and their role in supporting digital transformation, enable government entities to understand mechanisms for requesting and utilizing services within approved frameworks, and clarify integration among components of shared infrastructure—including the network, security, digital trust, and e-integration.
It also seeks to support safe, reliable, and efficient data exchange among government entities, boost the efficiency of shared government services, and encourage innovation in designing and developing digital services based on shared infrastructure.
The workshop falls within the efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology to advance digital transformation and the digital economy in the Sultanate of Oman, and to support the goals of the National Program for Digital Economy and Oman Vision 2040.
