New York: The Sultanate of Oman participated in a multilateral meeting convened by US President Donald Trump with leaders and representatives of a number of Gulf and Arab countries and Türkiye, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The 81st session’s high-level general debate is being held from September 22 to 26.
Oman was represented at the meeting by Ambassador Talal Al Rahbi, Oman’s accredited Ambassador to the United States, accompanied by a number of officials.
The meeting discussed developments in the Middle East, the challenges facing the region, and efforts to reduce escalation and strengthen security and stability. Discussions also addressed ways to support diplomatic efforts and peaceful approaches to resolving regional crises.
Oman stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and diplomacy and intensifying regional and international efforts to contain tensions and create conditions conducive to peaceful and sustainable solutions that safeguard the region’s security and stability and meet the aspirations of its peoples for peace and development.
The meeting formed part of a series of high-level meetings and gatherings being held in New York alongside the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. The United Nations has identified dialogue, diplomacy and cooperation on regional challenges as key themes of high-level engagements during the session.
