Sayyid Badr meets President of UN General Assembly

New York: Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid  Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi met Dr Khalil Rahman, President of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, at the UN headquarters in New York.

The meeting discussed the priorities of the current session and ways to build broader consensus among member states to strengthen the United Nations’ ability to address interconnected crises and promote peaceful solutions to international issues.

Sayyid Badr reaffirmed Oman’s support for the efforts of the President of the General Assembly to restore confidence in international cooperation and improve the performance of the UN system in a way that upholds the principles of the UN Charter and responds to the needs of countries and the aspirations of their peoples.

The meeting also discussed the contribution of dialogue and preventive diplomacy to reducing conflicts and the importance of linking peacebuilding efforts with sustainable development to promote broader and longer-term stability.
