Salalah hosts orientation workshop on combating invasive weed 'parthenium'

Salalah; The Wilayat of Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar, today hosted an orientation workshop about the National Laboratory on combating the spread of "parthenium" invasive weed.

The workshop, which is organized by the Environment Authority, brings together specialists, experts, researchers and representatives of the departments concerned.

The event aims to bolster national efforts to devise technical regulations for developing an integrated system to monitor the spread of the weed and minimize its environmental impact.

The workshop is in pursuance of efforts undertaken by the Sultanate of Oman to consolidate the environmental protection system, conserve biodiversity and improve the management of invasive plant species. Such efforts include leveraging the outcomes of research and technical expertise, developing mechanisms of parthenium control and enhancing cooperation and coordination among the relevant stakeholders.
