Oman hosts meeting of e-learning officials from GCC higher education institutions

Muscat: Represented by Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), the Sultanate of Oman today hosted the 25th meeting of the Committee of E-Learning Officials from GCC universities and higher education institutions.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Dr. Fahad bin Al Julanda Al Said, Vice-Chancellor of Sultan Qaboos University.

The meeting, which saw the participation of representatives of 32 universities and higher education institutions from GCC states, sought to enhance cooperation and coordination for facilitating the exchange of expertise and practices on developing e-learning and teaching systems. It also outlined future approaches envisaged by the Committee.

In a speech on the occasion, Salim bin Jabir Al Waeli, Director of the SQU Educational Technologies Centre, said that the meeting aimed to underscore the importance of consolidating frameworks for cooperation and coordination among GCC higher education institutions.

He pointed out that exchanging expertise and best practices in e-learning constitutes a cornerstone to keep pace with rapid advancements in the field of technology and digital transformation. Such steps support efforts for establishing a more integrated and innovative educational system that meets current demands and explores future requirements, he added.

The meeting followed up recommendations and decisions from the previous session of the Committee and reviewed the latest e-learning developments and initiatives at participating universities and institutions.
