MUSCAT: A 60-year-old motorcyclist from Karnataka state of India has reached Oman after travelling approximately 39,000 kilometres across 38 countries on a Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, completing an extraordinary international expedition spanning Asia, Europe and the Gulf.

Sharath Kumar Ozias Gabriel, an entrepreneur from Mangaluru, undertook the journey under the banner of the Great Overland Expedition, which began in his hometown on May 31, 2026.

The Embassy of India in Muscat acknowledged Gabriel's achievement, noting that he had braved temperatures ranging from -10°C to 53°C during the journey.

Beyond the adventure, the expedition aimed to promote healthy living, physical fitness and active ageing, highlighting that age need not be a barrier to pursuing ambitious goals.

Gabriel's latest journey builds on his earlier international motorcycling experience.

In 2024, he completed a ride through Gulf countries while spreading the message “Say No to Drugs”.

During the expedition, he carried both the Indian national flag and the Tulunadu flag, reflecting his national pride and connection to his cultural roots.

Oman was planned as the final destination of the long-distance ride, with his motorcycle to be shipped back to India after the expedition.

His arrival in Muscat marks the culmination of a journey that combined adventure, endurance and a message encouraging people to remain active and pursue their ambitions regardless of age.
