Unified Admission Centre opens registration for 2026/2027 academic year with an upgraded system

Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Unified Admission Center, has opened registration for admission to higher education institutions for the academic year 2026/2027, in a process that runs until June 4 through an upgraded digital system designed to enhance efficiency and ease of use for students.

The new system allows students holding a General Education Diploma or equivalent for the 2025/2026 academic year to apply electronically via the center’s website, where they can explore available academic programs, review specializations, and select study paths aligned with their future aspirations.

Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Azri, Director General of the Unified Admission Centre, said the admission system has undergone a comprehensive redesign as part of a broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving the student experience and aligning with modern technological standards.

He explained that the updated platform features a simplified login process using basic student information, followed by a centralized dashboard that provides access to personal data, academic results, program options, and admission updates within a single digital interface.

The system also introduces smart tools that help students search for academic programmes by institution or specialisation, with automatic filtering based on eligibility. It also offers personalised programme recommendations based on student performance data, along with flexible options for arranging preferences through drag-and-drop functionality, arrow controls, or manual entry.

Al-Azri noted that the student guide has been fully digitised and enhanced with interactive features, including explanatory videos supported by artificial intelligence technologies. Students can access these resources via QR codes to better understand registration and admission procedures.

He highlighted several new developments in this year’s admission cycle, including direct admission to selected specializations at Sultan Qaboos University, alongside full scholarships offered by Ooredoo Oman in priority fields linked to employment opportunities. These initiatives aim to better align higher education outputs with labor market needs.

The system also includes expanded inclusive education options, such as an art education program for students with hearing disabilities at Sultan Qaboos University, as well as internal scholarships in private higher education institutions for students with autism, supporting more diverse educational pathways.

Al-Azri further pointed to extensive awareness efforts carried out by the center, including 16 guidance workshops for career counselors across governorates, participation in educational campaigns with Petroleum Development Oman, and engagement in multiple student and parent forums.

He urged students not to delay registration, emphasising the importance of carefully reviewing academic choices and prioritizing preferences. He also stressed the role of parents in guiding their children during this critical stage to ensure informed decisions that support successful academic and professional futures.
